Maybe there is a pattern in the criticism of the transporter (just a first guess): most of the time the transporter is described as 'cold' or 'analytical'. Maybe not well suited for people who like a 'warm' sound?
In my quest for a better amplifier, I did find the tansporter sound too cold and analytical in combination with a Bryston, but not at all with my Creek Destiny or a Chord or Classé. As usual, it seems to be the combination that matters.
