OK - So I put the SB3 analogue o/p on the scope and guess what? - a perfect Gibbs squarewave - nice horizontals.
Putting the DAC output on the other channel and comparing the waves side by side it's obvious that something is wrong in my setup somewhere. Immediately I leap to the conclusion it's the DAC...but no it isn't!. I rewire and take a spdif from the SB into the DAC with nothing in between - and the waves are now identical and perfect. Putting the TACT back in the loop (set in correction and EQ bypass mode) and it is now obvious that the TACT is messing up the wave....but, but... the TACT is all digital - basically a DSP engine with no analogue stages - what mechanism can cause this? I can see that the digital signal is going through the TACT circuitry since the (digital) volume control on the TACT works as it should. Seems the TACT must still be doing something to the signal even in Bypass mode... -- Phil Leigh You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it ain't what you'd call minimal...SB3+Stontronics PSU - Altmann JISCO/UPCI - TACT RCS 2.2X + Good Vibrations S/W - MF Triplethreat(Audiocom full mods)- Linn 5103 - Aktiv 5.1 system (6x LK140's, ESPEK/TRIKAN/KATAN/SEIZMIK 10.5), Townsend Supertweeters, Kimber & Chord cables Outdoors: Boombox+Creative Sub (If I remember to turn it on...) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Phil Leigh's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=85 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53345 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/audiophiles
