I run a SB into DSP5500's as well as an old pair of 5000's mkI's (upstairs in my TV lounge) , thats about as minimalistic as you can get. There is a fantastic mod for meridian speakers and that is 2 fold 1) Remove the grille off the tweeter (the mesh thing , prise it out gently with a pin) and 2) Replace the tweeter with a SEAS millenium excell......requires you lathe 5mm off the edge of the Seas tweeter and then drop it into the original rebate. Meridian do not use a good tweeter in their models , the SEAS they use is prone to damage and blowing and the plastic horn/flange vibrates. The Millenium replacement is identical electrically , but is way better at power handling and goes higher in freq.
