I seems impossible that internet radio stations  could be better than
ripped cds in Flac format.
Maybe you ripper has some EQ settings or normalisation on, try the last
version of Cdex (freeware), in Options / settiings / encoder choose
flac; in filenames choose the output directories; put a cd in and in
Convert extract  cd to compressed. There's no way that you could have a
bad sound.
