A while ago I asked this forum for their wiews on a few bookshelf speakers I had auditioned (Dynaudio, Quad, etc), priced at around $1000 Australian. Since then, my budget, not much to start with, has halved (having teenage children does that).
Anyhow, I'm pleased to report that I finally bought someting - the Usher S-520. See http://www.usheraudiousa.com/products/loudspeakers/usher-series/s-520-shielded I haven't heard much hi-end stuff, so I'm probably easy to impress, but these speakers are stunning. The best thing about them is a really smooth natural midrange.
