Check all your settings, I have noted via numerous betas, that settings disapear all the time especially "fixed volume" after some updates it has been very low in volume :) I remembered to simply put vol back to 100% and run to the web UI and set it to fixed.
You can disable all transcoding to. check file types settings. Check replay gain settings do you use that ? the long standing bug with clipping and RG is fixed in 7.3.1 so your file may be played back on lower volume that you are used to ? but without clipping ? subtle differences at 2dB or something would not always be heard as lower volume. If you are extra paranoid you check which processes and programs that is running on your machine, if lame is running while you are playing flac it's is transcoded for something.
