No - the SB uses a 24-bit architecture for volume control of re-scaled
16-bit data just like top-end studios and top-end hi-fi etc

There is no loss of information until the volume gets really low!
Replaygain rarely does more than 10dB of reduction which is nothing in
a 24-bit architecture.
