Maybe it's just that his beloved Mac and iTunes do not support FLAC and
only support ALAC, which is fine if you don't mind having the future
playback capabilities of your music locked into a proprietary format
and dependent on Apple's good graces. However it does mention meta-data
but still insists on using the uncompressed Apple-centric AIFF format
over the widely accepted (except in the Apple universe) lossless
compression FLAC format, which has robust meta-data support.

I am also somewhat amused by web sites and magazines that somehow feel
that an iTunes based computer audio system could EVER be considered
even remotely "audiophile" after all the harm that iTunes, with it's
insistence on lossy compression (either via the iTunes store or the
iTunes default CD ripping settings), has done to the sonic quality of
digital and computer based music. Not to mention iTune's brain dead
approach to just about any musical genre besides pop/rock.

Please give us a freaking break.
