I've only seen two types of TOSLINK connectors: - "proper" ones with a D-shaped connector. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:TOSLINK.jpg These should push the door out of the way and press in pretty tight, not quite "clicking" in place but almost. If not, you have a defective receptacle.
- "cheap" ones that are circular. The connector is made from a slightly gummy, rubbery material. The deformation and stickiness of this material and the fact that the circle is large enough to wedge into the D-shaped connector hold it in place. It doesn't feel as secure as the D-connector but it seems to work fine. If either type falls out then you probably have a defective receptacle. This seems quite common - it looks like the protective "door" is the weak part of the receptacle. It will sometimes fall off or jam. My A/V receiver had a door off right in the store. It looks like the door forms part of the mechanism that holds the connector in place - without it, the connector won't stay in. -- Mark Lanctot Current: SB2, Transporter, Boom (PQP3 - late beta), SBC (early beta) Stored: Boom (PQP1 - early beta) Sold: SB3, Duet ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=60991 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
