Many here, including myself, have had good success with the Linksys WRT54GL. Note the "L". > The bandwidth is more than enough no matter what technology I take it > when the only job 99% of the time will be to run SC? The main thing is going to be range. Locate the router as close to where you will use the SBC as you can, or at least put it in a central location. The WRT54GL is good because it has two antennas that you can re-orient or even replace. Many others only have one antenna or no antennas at all (internal antennas). An 802.11 "pre n" router may help because it often has more than two antennas, a more sophisticated radio module, and is designed to give greater range. However I haven't used these, and I think I've read a report or two where there can be problems even with these. > Also, is it possible to connect the router to another Wirelessrouter for > internet access? (I > have permission to use the net-access ;-) ) Although you can "associate" a wireless router with another, this is pretty advanced. You can do this with the WRT54GL and the DD-WRT firmware at least. This is called WDS (Wireless Distribution System): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wireless_Distribution_System It is quite advanced and not guaranteed to work, especially if your router is not the same brand as his. Your best bet is to get your own Internet access, sorry to say. You can operate your wired/wireless network in isolation from the Internet if you want - SqueezeCenter, your Transporter and the Controller should work fine, but you won't be able to access SqueezeNetwork or any Internet Radio streams. -- Mark Lanctot Current: SB2, Transporter, Boom (PQP3 - late beta), SBC (early beta) Stored: Boom (PQP1 - early beta) Sold: SB3, Duet ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Mark Lanctot's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=61018 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
