BTW there is an argument that computer-based audio isn't mature at the moment and maybe by the time it's mature it will look different to what it is now.
Last.fm, spotify etc show the streaming-media-from-cloud concept can work for a certain group of people. If that group of people expands into the mainstream then good old us - audio enthusiasts who want their own music server because they listen so much, or care about which masters, or listen to esoteric artists - will be lumped with the vinyl lovers. By the time this happens computer audio will be a lot easier to set up and use - I note certainly streaming is more straightforward than setting up your own server. I can see how it will appeal to most people. Whether this is going to be a golden age of music or the next phase in the Great Dumbing Down is the question!
