Am listening to the superb No Man "Schoolyard Ghosts" FLAC on the A5s now. The A5s (on stands at least)obviously produce more mid bass, and I think it is that which frees up the top end giving better vocal delivery than the A2s - more breath and space round the human voice - and that is what I mean by 'open'. It is hard to put subjective sound perceptions into words, but then I am not a hi fi reviewer. Merely a music fan. The A2s seem to work harder and sound more boxy (as in - from boxes) in comparision. And that is only in comparison, in isolation both punch above both their price and size. Both share tweeters and some componentry, plus design teams. The rear ports on the A5s obviously move far more air than the forwatrd facing ports on the A2s. Don't be fooled into thinkkng that teh A2s lack bass though. They don't although it is far less natural sounding than the A5s. I went through similar decsion process and ended up buying both, plus an additional receiver. No regrets. How long will one keep them before the upgrade bug bites (and wife permits..)well I am already hankering after some piano black ADM AVI 9.1s (although they dont look as good as the A5s imho), but they are runing at £1000 and the A5s are £249, so 4X cost uplift.
