Hi Louis When you have a WAV file at 16/44.1 you can use this tool to do a flac conversion http://members.home.nl/w.speek/flac.htm
The default settings should be ok - just make sure that "Delete input files" is unticked. Then you can switch between files and compare. It is also possible to convert the flac back to WAV - you may be interested in comparing the original with the decompressed version.
