You can take a touch, disconnect the screen and take it out of the case. You can put that board in a case of your choosing with a 5V power supply and you now have a headless SB player that can go up to 24/96. The fun part is going to be the 192 part. The clocks inside run at a high enough frequency that 192 is possible. There is nothing in the hardware that I can see that would preclude 192.
So it looks like 192 would "just" be a firmware upgrade. But don't hold your breath, the developers have a lot of other things with a much higher priority on their plates, so even though it theoretically possible it probably won't happen anytime soon. Then there is Squeezebox Server, since no current devices support 192 there would probably have to be some modifications to support a device that can accept that sample rate. So you can get a Touch now (well when it comes out) and use it for up to 96 with the hope that someday it will do 192. Thats probably a higher probability than another dedicated "audiophile" device that will do 192.
