Why should there be no difference in theory? And why should they sound
the same? Jitter is a real and measurable phenomenon, and its effects
are well documented. It would be utterly unsurprising if the digital
outputs of the various models had different jitter characteristics.

In any event, I've compared the Receiver to the Transporter, both
feeding an external DAC. (I can't remember if it was the Pass Labs D1 or
the Adcom GDA-600, at the time.) The difference was pretty obvious. And
frankly, I was pretty bummed out. I was hoping to get away cheap in my
second system. But I had to shell out for a second Transporter, instead.
