I and my friends (all big Squeezebox/Transporter fans) have done numerous listening tests regarding Squeezebox Classic stock power supply vs. good linear power supply and we found out that good power supply improves the sounds. I have 5V/3A diy power supply and the difference is like night and day... even with crappy switchers inside Squeezebox.
Budget non-resolution and non-transparent hifi system probably won't show the difference, but once when man moves higher there's no way back to stock switcher power supply.
