Well, I personally find it unlistenable - but I'd probably say the same
if it wasn't hypercompressed like this. Believe it or not I've seen
worse examples posted on other forums.
And it isn't just heavy metal. How about the train wreck towards the
end of this track ("Fix You" from "X&Y" by Coldplay, 2005):
