What I meant was that the discussion of 16 bits versus 20 bits is one
thing but it's separate to digital volume control. Once you've settled
on a number of bits you're happy with (let's say for you 20 bits, for
me 16 bits) then digital volume should be fine if you've got your gain
staging right.

LOL. But really there is no other way to perform a fade-out given a
digital track. The biggest problem with most recordings is dynamic
compression. But I know you know this Themis! Tee hee.
