Hi I spend most of my free time at the desk in the office room, so I would like to build a good desktop Touch-based stereo system which in time can become audiophile quality
The office room is quite small and I have a pair of 15 years old Tannoy 630 loudspeakers I haven't used in ages. So I've been considering a $200 Trends Audio TA-10.1 to complete my setup. Later on I will upgrade the speakers to something similar to Chario Piccolo Star Satellite $500, or reuse my Chario Syntar 200 when I'll upgrade the living room setup with floorstanders. The usability weak point of this setup is I could not connect my PC to the TA10; even if I usually prefer my own EAC-ripped FLACs, I found myself often listening to YouTube / NPR / Myspace streams while at the desk. I could add a benchmark DAC1 USB (about $1200), but then I feel the rest of the chain would be not adequate. Would I be better off with active speakers or with the TA-10.1 and passive speakers ? 1400$ on electronic and $500 on loudspeakers... there might be better way to invest my money. Touch + $1500 to gradually invest in one/two years is the likely scenario and I'm looking for suggestions in order to maximize usability (Touch + PC + headphones) and sound quality thank you in advance -- Nando1970 SqueezeServer 7.5 (QNAP TS409-Pro NAS) - Duet - AV Receiver Harman Kardon AVR-255 - Chario Syntar 200 3 Boom (kitchen, bathroom, bedroom) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Nando1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38639 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=80085 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
