Thanks! Okay so I used Foobar to run replaygain on a few recent recordings just to get some idea of the numbers mean. After reading several difference posts about replaygain and loudness I gathered that the closer to 0.0 db the better. Here's what I discovered (actually more like verified). Jazz recordings seem to be unaffected by the loudness wars with several very recent recording sawing a replaygain numbers between +2 and -1.0 db. On the other hand several recent rock and popular recordings show replaygain numbers in the range of -9.0 to -10.0 db. No wonder I'm a jazz fan. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 (oops) -> Touch 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=85846 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
