Sure there are audiophile very similar to the one depicted in the article and leave it to NPR to find the one female in the entire US. So that's the first thing not very accurate - an overwhelming majority of audiophiles are male and an overwhelming majority of those males are white. second no self-respecting audiophile would describe their system without using the names and model numbers of the equipment, including the speakers and the wires! strike two!! And the third strike has already been pointed out by Curt962 - by the 1980's Stereo Review and High Fidelity magazines had been replaced by The Absolute Sound and Stereophile has the "sacred texts" of audiophilia. Today the internet is quickly making many magazines almost irrelevant as more and more audiophiles use various web sites forums (like this one) to connect with each other directly. A more interesting article would have been one about the amazing headphone community that has sprung up online via sites like headfi.org - many of today's young headphone enthusiasts will become the audiophiles of tomorrow. -- ralphpnj Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels -> Snatch -> The Transporter -> Transporter 2 (oops) -> Touch 'Last.fm' (http://www.last.fm/user/jazzfann/) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ralphpnj's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10827 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=86098 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
