On the cable and burnin issue I HAVE heard a very slight burnin with
some cables, and not with others. It has never been more than a slight
effect.

The cables that exhibit this tend to be the ones with multiple wires in
complex geometries. My GUESS is that the manufacturing processes that
produce these complex cables leave significant stress in the structures
separating wires, during play the micro-vibrations from the signal
"relieve the stress" in the system causing the wires to slightly shift
relative to each other, very slightly changing the sound.

Another possiblity is changing of the dialectric properties of the
insullation under the influence of the AC electric fields of the
signal. Some of the polymer structers are quite susceptible to slight
rearrangement of their atomic structure due to external electric
fields. This rearrangement will affect their electrical properties.
Again whether this is audible is another matter.
