Yes, this is the sad part. And of course all the audio magazines are so
beholden to the advertisers. Actually the best improvement I've had in
20 years is the ability to access all my music easily in multiple
locations because of its digital conversion. It's like rediscovering my
music collection.
p.s. The improvement I'd really, really like is a plugin that would
give my brain the exact feelings I had as a kid in junior high
listening to my newly purchased copy of the (just released) Beatles
"white album" for the first time. Of course that was on a crappy
all-in-one record player so it wasn't about the "audio reproduction"
chain at all. Not that I never get this "feeling" anymore, but it is
more rare. Probably just old age ("it's just not as good as the old
days...." ;-)
