I've had a similar experience and bizarrely it was also with 'Bariks
(which "image" in a most unconventional way - they used to remind me of
Sonab Omnis) ... I also had it once in a hi-fi shop (Laskys!) with a
pair of a Thorens 166 deck and Kef Celeste's (no idea what the rest of
the system was) on stands in the middle of the shop floor...I just
happened to be walking past when I heard a sax emerge "from nowhere".
The speakers were probably wired out of phase :-)
