IMO red book is more than sufficient for a playback format. Heck, even Spotify's Vorbis 320 streaming sounds good - it has nothing to do with the typical SQ of internet radio (which sucks big time!) Once you have decent line level equipment, look at loudspeakers and acoustics for real improvements.
