For myself, I wouldn't waste any time trying to optimize a router. Besides my 3 Squeezeboxes, a Duet remote and music server, my mid-level Belkin G router supports 2 other PCs, my laptop, my daughter's laptop and iPad and a Roku. I've never had a song interruption due to traffic volume on the network.
Some years ago, I used a SB3 with a "B" wireless router with no issues.
