Nominal speed of sound = 1125 Ft/Sec

Calculated difference in seconds of 2 Ft offset = .00177 seconds (at
the maximum since it's "nearly two feet" closer.)

I suggest you mover your ears 1 ft closer to more distant speaker, thus
reducing the delay to .0058 (six thousands of a second.) Additionally,
you could turn you head slightly to further reduce the delay.

If you feel you can tell the difference in your current configuration,
you could also consider moving the more distant speaker closer. This is
most likely the true source of your perceived difference in sound.
