I think Mnyb's advice is generally good. However, I got excellent results from Emotiva, X-series interconnects and Blue Jeans speaker cables. Either is not expensive and may be worth a try.
Better speakers and their position in the room are more likely than an external DAC to make a substantial SQ difference. Also, it would help to know what music you mostly listen to and what aspects of SQ are most important to you. Alternatively, you may investigate headphone listening. It's a lot easier and cheaper to get excellent sound from headphones than from speakers. But headphones have their own drawbacks, not the least of which is the "sound in your head" effect.
