I'd also point out that such a person could also buy their own 20,000-plus watt generator and have it installed in the yard away from their house and provide themselves a dedicated power source completely isolated from the mains. Figure $5,000 or $6,000 for the generator and then triple that for installation and you've spent half of what this one cord costs.
