Hardwiring might be interesting but I'd have to butcher my my expensive digital cable. Instead I installed a socket in the removable panel at the back of the case. Then I soldered one wire to a pin at the end of the + trace and the other to the ground pad left vacant by the original socket, ran both wires out the hole in the back panel and closed everything up. I then soldered the wires to the BNC now attached to the removable panel which was then snapped back in place. The hardest part was removing the old socket. You'll need to find the smallest BNC socket possible or depending on the diameter/length you may have to, respectively, widen the hole/leave the back panel slightly ajar or held in place with tape. Fortunately I had a wide assortment left over from previous DIY projects to choose from. Removing the optical gives you a bit more room to work the wires around the PCB instead of squeezing them between it and the back panel.
