There is a claim that digital cables should be 1,5 meter due to some
reflection impedance missmatch or somesuch with spdiff and this should
be ideal for some reason , have not studied this in detail so I have no
opinion on it (yet).

However this does not apply to analog cables, so these can be in any
practical length you desire, however if one don't want to buy new
cables all the time make them long enough so that you can move around
your equipment or for example add an extra shelf in the rack for future
components.

Or if it's blue jeans cable that are not super expensive, just get the
length that fits now.
