So long as the squeezeboxen receive an adequate stream of data from the server, any changes to the host hardware/OS will only result in an improvement in the speed of the user interface.
No improvement in sound quality will result under any circumstances. Sound quality in this system is determined by the D/A converters in the players, the capability of your stereo to play them, and the bit rate/depth of the music file.
