Thanks for the clarification. So I agree that there can feasibly be a concern over short term memory, even if I don't share that concern. So what to do about it.... If you're in the camp that believes FLAC decoding on the player damages the sound, then this won't help, but if you are happy to stream FLAC then you can extend this 'golden period' to about 45s. You could even use a very high bit rate MP3 - the golden period is proportional to the amount of compression in the file. And if you are concerned about different sections of a track not being comparable because they sound different anyway, I imagine you could easily pick a 30s section of a test track, extract it to a file, duplicate it at the end of that file, and thereby create a single track with a repeating sample of music. You could then do the cable pull test by pulling the cable at the beginning of the repeat. Perhaps you could put a short silence between the samples to act as the cue for the cable pull. -- chill ------------------------------------------------------------------------ chill's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10839 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=93257 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
