I've listened to most of all the tracks you've listed (mostly via Spotify) and I can see why they are your reference tracks... Musically there were a few recordings I will explore further including: Gillian Welch, Alice in Chains, Lucinda Williams and Morphine. Thanks. A subset of my reference tracks: Hedonism (Just Because You Feel Good) by Skunk Anansie from Stoosh (original CD release) Willow by Joan Armatrading Mercy Street by Paul Gabriel from So (original CD release) I Loves You Porgy by Nina Simone For bass: We Trying to Stay Alive by Wyclef Jean Spin Spin Sugar by Sneaker Pimps from Becoming X (turquoise version) Although they will all sound better on better set ups, the killer is Willow by Joan Armatrading - this can easily sound rubbish if anything is wrong - good for a "sanity check" when moving speakers or adding treatments! I am not saying it's the best recording...I mean it is quite "sensitive". TBH the best I've heard it was on the Linkwitz Orions, but it's sounding acceptable at home right now.
