Phil, the speakers are fine there is no crackling with the laptop running LMS or with the Transporter running Mysqueezebox.com, it is only when running the desktop with LMS.
I really think we've nailed the desktop by matter of elimination as the culprit, but you now don't seem so sure now about the power supply causing this anomaly.
