Disservice to community not only audio community IMO and the audiophile
subforum is already considered the an " off place" on this forum ( read
the forum description for a hint ) the owners have already given up on
audiophiles :-/ but do consider their money real enough to let them buy
squeezeboxes on account of their imagined properties to......

But I do think it is bad pr as obviously false claims about the
products properties and performance are made all the time and tolerated
but then again this is normal in the audio press too and maybe an
accepted reality if you want to sell to audiophiles :-/ the product
sell if you win the lottery of a good subjective review .

I just wonder what BMW would say if someone claims that thier car's
only do 30km/h unless you used a special tweak ( server mods ) in an
official car forum .
If you take the hype on this forum seriously you learn that the Touch's
performance is downright unlistenable unmodified probably on par with an
old cassette that been in your car ( in the sun )since 1983 .
And we are talking errors that are agreed to be smaller than one bit ?
As most hype is " heard " trough the digital out ? I'll bet my lunch
money that I could truncate a bit on the signal and the diff would be
subtle , not a world changing experience and a change like that is
several magnitudes larger than what is proposed in these forums.

It was bit better when the original founder was around he could
sometimes inject some sense ( do check out Sean Adams respons o matic
form for audiophile claims in some old tread ).

Regarding the Touch I've never seen the hardware designer comment or
write anything about the design off Touch . Which is a pity ?
