"Soviet" refers to a particular kind-of-sort-of-Marxist-Leninist political and economic model, and you might like to think it had more than a few tinges of fascism. One thing you can say for sure about modern Russia is that it is no longer "Soviet" in nature. Authoritarian, anti-democratic and perhaps even a little bit fascist, but not Soviet. Actually, much closer now to the robber-baron-capitalism that characterized the U.S. a hundred years ago (and which seems to be on the rise again).
