Hi Triode,

I want to give my impressions about EDO for <= 96kHz playback. My SBT
feeds my EA OffRamp via USB which then goes into my DAC via S/PDIF. IMO,
the improvement in doing things this way rather than SBT direct to DAC
via coax S/PDIF is marked.

Frankly, I find it refreshing that you make no extravagant claims about
EDO. This runs contrary to what has become common practise on this forum
vis-a-vis someone's particular discovery or configuration being, most
assuredly, the ONLY way to go. It strikes me that some people do not
understand the limitations surrounding inductive reasoning as it relates
to their particular experience. Rather, they are convinced that their
experience serves as the general case. However, thinking, mature people
should know better.

Anyway, I think what you have done here (in this thread) is clever in
that you initially made no claim about EDO with respect to sound quality
(so as not to create any expectation bias) and simply invited folk to
share their experience. Presumably, if enough people say "better" then
this becomes something in itself without the requirement for "why" which
is unanswerable at this time. This being your own view if I read you
correctly though there are some candidates as you note: processor
activity, power rail delivery etc.. So my feeling is that "why" should
have no place on this thread; it just being a place where people report
their (subjective) findings.

Regards,
