"Pretty high"? I've seen used SB3s going for $75 to $150. You're looking
for something that will work with LMS? Good luck ever finding or
building something other than a Squeezebox for $75.

I disagree that they'll have an every-diminishing lifespan. I expect
many SB2s and SB3s will work for many, many years. If yours happens to
die it's just a matter of poor luck. The prices may still be relatively
high, but they can only go lower and lower, which is why I say keep an
eye out. Create a Craigslist and/or eBay search for Squeezeboxes,
bookmark it, check it every so often. There will be random crazy cheap
bargains to be had. In just a couple of years they'll be selling for $20
or $30 because few people will remember what a Squeezebox was, and those
who do will consider it ancient technology.
