Ralph- I appreciate your view and I do understand exactly where you are
coming from. My experience has been different than yours. Your system,
and I would wager on it, will improve in the following ways with Cary
306 SACD Pro (or the equivalent or better):

- Soundstage will be wider, taller, deeper
- Images will be larger and better defined
- Bass will be more taught, defined, deeper and faster
- Highs will be "sweeter" and more extended
- You will notice the relative absence of listening fatigue (which
really shocked me)
- Open. Yes, when you hear how "open" the presentation is you will
think, "hey, I don't need vinyl!!"
- Data retrieval. The Cary will retrieve more data and get it safely on
it's way out to the pre. You will hear this additional detail easily
with no strain whatsoever.

I did not anticipate these improvements. None were subtle by ANY
definition. I was "warned" that the Cary was an enormous leap (over the
Transporter) and that with my speakers and other electronics I would be
taken by surprise. My attitude was that the Transporter was being
underestimated. Well, I was proven wrong so fast that (within seconds)
I nearly did fall out of my chair. And finally, I assure you that I've
had major upgrades before, including cylinder bass traps, moving
speakers to proper location, major speaker upgrades, power amps, pre
amps, but this one shocked the heck out of me. I would not have
recognized the sound of my own system had I not been sitting there with
my eyes open. No hyperbole. None. This was MY experience having been
an "audiophile" for roughly 20 years. I simply hadn't gotten around to
my front-end having majorly upgraded all other components. I did NOT
believe for a second that design of the analog stage, for example, could
matter so much- this is where much of the magic is. Additionally,
jitter handling, power supply and digital stage implementation have been
engineered with oversight and final approval from Dennis Had before he
left the firm he started.

No use continuing this debate. My views are founded in my own
experiences and are supported by pro reviews from around the globe,
customer feedback, the test of time, etc. The ball is in your court to
test this out yourself and then report back. I sincerely believe that
you will be far from disappointed.
