Don't know if you guys have seen these YouTube videos. He's the Chief Tech Officer so appears quite knowledgeable, but at the same time giving this talk to the audiophile crowd about funky stuff like jitter, Sabre DAC's, hearing problems with delta-sigma's (although he doesn't really go into enough detail):
Part 1: Noise Shaping, Delta Sigma DAC & "Hyperstream Modulator" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CkyrDIGzOE A bit on the long side at ~1hr. Anyone know what track/album he's talking about at 26:39 referring to some "fault" in the sound of the organ? Wasn't there some classical recording at one time where there was low bass from a nearby subway caught in the recording or something like that? Part 2: Digital vs. Analogue Volume & Jitter http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYjHKv2_OqQ Again, a bit on the vague side... Not sure what his thoughts are about jitter other than "it could be a problem" and needing "less than 1ns" precision. Really? He also seems to imply that >20kHz bandwidth is audible but no further clarification. Thoughts anyone? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Archimago's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2207 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=97880 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
