Remember the opposite is also true, i.e. each imperfection may be
unnoticeable but it degrades performance (even inaudibly) which is
always a bad thing and adds up eventually to an aggregate drop-off in
performance which is quite audible. So for example this morning I tried
to play a song on my Touch and because of this chain of imperfections
the resulting music/noise was totally unlistenable:

1) Used a flac file instead of a wav file
2) Used 16bit/44.1kHz file not high resolution file
3) Flac file was encoded using PCM not DSD
4) Flac file stored a standard, i.e. non-solid state, hard drive
5) Hard drive connected to computer running SBS via standard, i.e.
non-audiophile, USB cable
6) Computer with SBS has standard power cord and power supply
7) Computer with SBS and Touch both connected to router by standard,
i.e. non-audiophile, Ethernet cables
8) Touch has stock power cord and power supply
9) Touch display not disabled
10) Digital output of Touch connected to DAC using standard coax cable
11) DAC/preamp connected to subwoofer and power amp by single ended
cables not balanced cables.
12) Energy bookshelf speakers have MDF panels instead of aircraft grade
aluminum panels and internal bracing
13) Energy bookshelf speakers have grill covers on
14) About 100 other small but important factors

End result: pure and very painful noise.
