Here's one way of describing why reducing tasks on the PC won't have any effect on the music. The way Squeeze works is in effect copying a file from one computer to another either over Ethernet or wifi. If the number of tasks running at either end had a effect on the file our copies of spreadsheets, word docs, databases or what have you would be affected by the number of tasks running. It has no effect other than it might slow the copy down just a smidgen. As long as the copy of the music file to the player can happen faster than the player can play the file it will always be identical regardless of the number of tasks running at either end.
