I've used both over the past year... Borrowed a friend's linear power supply about 6 months back. Interestingly, I didn't notice much difference in terms of ADC measurements so for the purpose of the testing, I just stayed with the switching PSU. This could make a difference listening with the DAC I suppose but I didn't get a chance to test that bit at the time.
