I took the challenge using my desktop PC fitted with an Asus Xonar DX soundcard. This is connected via the stereo analogue output to a fairly modest Marantz SR4400 multi-channel receiver. I normally listen via speakers (Acoustic Energy Aegis Two floorstanders) but for the Philips challenge I used some Sennheiser HD540 Reference headphones. As you mention in your blog, some elements of the challange take time to master, such as identifying specific frequency ranges of boost/cut. Still, with some perseverence and a quiet house to myself I finally reached the gold level and had great fun doing so...
15606 15607 At forty-four years of age I fared better than I expected but the real eye (or should that be ear) opener for me was how subtle the differences were in many of the tests, especially at the top level. After hours of testing if I never hear those sample tracks again in my life I'll be -very- happy! :D +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ |Filename: Capture.JPG | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=15607| +-------------------------------------------------------------------+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wiggly1uk2000's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=62517 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100964 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
