WTF? As far as I know most self proclaimed audiophiles (and this is the "Audiophiles" section, is it not?) give the love of good sound and getting the best sound from their audio equipment as the main reasons that they call themselves audiophiles. What I absolutely love to do is point out all nonsense that has nothing to do with getting good or better sound from audio equipment that audiophiles and the lap dog audiophile press seem to worship. And front panels milled from a billet of solid aircraft grade aluminum are one of the best examples of this audiophile nonsense. There is no magic or voodoo involved in getting good sound from a piece of audio equipment, there is just a thorough understanding and proper application of good engineering practices. All the magic and voodoo is added after the fact by the clowns who write for the various high end audio rags. Why? Because the addition of "magic" and "voodoo" goes a long way in helping to justify the outrageous prices charged by many high end audio manufacturers and those outrageous prices help to pay for advertising in those same audio rags. In the case of Bryston's BDP series the original BDP-2 was pretty much just a high quality computer audio card (less than $200 new) housed in fancy case, including the front panel milled from a billet of solid aircraft grade aluminum, and criminally over priced.
