"Decade old tech"? How about century old tech, as in the vacuum tube,
which was invented in 1904. Audiophiles are still going gaga over the
sounds of tubes so if a few of us here like the sound of our 10 year old
Transporters I really don't see the harm.

As for hyperbole, have you looked the covers of any of the various high
end audio magazines over the years? Words like "revolutionary",
"ultimate", "paradigm", "state of the art", "radical", "extraordinary"
and "cutting edge" grace these covers so often that I'm absolutely
amazed that there remains any room for even the slightest improvement in
any audio equipment. Over just the past two years I would guess that the
high end audio world has seen (and heard) the ultimate power amp, the
ultimate pre-amp, the ultimate DAC, the ultimate speakers, the ultimate
interconnects and the ultimate speaker wire at least a dozen times. It's
gotten so bad that even poor Chicken Little would be embarrassed.
