I agree 100%!

This year's Super Bowl halftime show was on the fast track to disaster
from the moment Coldplay was announced as the headline act. By the time
the show actually took place what could been a small disaster had grown
into full blown monumental cluster f*&k. Adding Beyonce and Bruno Mars
to Coldplay had the same effect as throwing gasoline on a fire.
Coldplay's music does not lend itself to a massive stadium and trying to
get them to sound even halfway decent requires much more than a 5 minute
setup with no sound check. Thank goodness the whole thing lasted only 13
minutes but 13 minutes of torture is still more than people expecting to
be entertained should have to endure.

In a related vein another big name that one would expect to do things
right but also falls far short is Bruce Springsteen. I'm referring to
Bruce's official live downloads of his current "The River" tour.
Basically the downloads sound only marginally better than a very good
audience recording and nowhere near as good as other performers official
live downloads. For example Phish's downloads always sound very good
with crystal clear sound, excellent presence and good overall balance.
The current crop of Springsteen downloads have very weak high end and a
very muddy and distant sound. Barely worth even an illegal download, let
alone a paid one.

One would think that Super Bowl L, oops I meant 50, and America's
favorite son Bruce would merit only the best but alas that is not the
case.
