FWIW, I have made similar investigations, and obtained similar results. It has been repeated and explained on this and other threads in many ways that finding a live performance whose dynamic range exceeds the capabilities of the CD format is difficult. So, there would rarely if ever be a need for any live performance recorded in any format to have its dynamics compressed to be effectively recorded on a CD. If it were compressed, it might be for artistic or business reasons, not the limits of CD technology. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ arnyk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=64365 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105717 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
