We've been experiencing a nasty winter this year with trees falling out lines, causing power failures and brownouts. Sometimes the power will come on, go off then go on again. Man, I hate that.
The only equipment I have that I care about is my vintage receiver, Transporter and (to a lesser extent) my Joggler which controls it. I couldn't care less about my other stuff, it's all junk. My PC is nothing special and I have disconnected back up hard drives for everything. So far I have not used the above equipment during any of these nasty incidents but the Transporter was plugged in for one of them...thank goodness it's ok. I'm just wondering what my options are here? I don't want a low cost UPS that pumps bad current into my stuff and I don't have big bucks for a true sine-wave version. I thought about buying one of these... http://www.homedepot.com/p/Tower-Manufacturing-Corporation-18-in-In-Line-GFCI-Cord-30438018/202510249?MERCH=REC-_-PIPHorizontal1_rr-_-202510246-_-202510249-_-N After a power outage, the plug stays off and has to be manually reset. AT LEAST this way I won't have to worry about a surge of power when it comes back on or those ON-OFF-ON scenarios. (This is work place safety mechanism in case anyone is wondering why it has such a "feature") ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Fizbin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=58734 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=106741 _______________________________________________ audiophiles mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/audiophiles
